The Tuesday Club Year - 1997

The Tuesday Club enjoyed their Christmas Lunch at the College near Coleford. At the Christmas Party, Mr Les Pratt showed us some slides he made on a journey from Land's End to Scotland, and this was followed by seasonal refreshment including some of Rose's sponge.
At both of these and at subsequent meetings we sorely missed Jo Arnatt, she was always so cheerful and kind, never too busy to listen to our problems. Our thoughts are with her family.
We also miss Pat Robinson from our meetings, she still has problems with her leg. Get well soon, Pat.

Members were saddened to hear of the sudden death of Mrs Olive Thomas of Llandogo. Mrs Thomas had been a member for many years and will be greatly missed. She was always so kind and cheerful. Our thoughts go to her family.
On a happier note we welcome back two members. Pat Robinson who has been absent for many months. Also Mrs Margaret Sayes who, due to ill health, has been absent even longer. We are very glad to see you both.

Members recently hired a coach and hit the high spots with a lovely lunch at the Montague Arms at Sling followed by a trip round the Forest to see parts we rarely reach and also the bluebells.

I should like to take this opportunity to thank everybody who helped with the Easter Bingo. As usual under the auspices of Daisy, Margery, Ruby, Doris and everybody else who helped, including Terry and the Bingo machine, the evening was a great success. Thanks also to all who came, we made a healthy profit for our funds.

Some members of the Tuesday Club recently joined with Llandogo Over-60s and went to Brecon and a trip down the canal which was most enjoyable. This was followed by another trip to the Elan Valley. Llandogo are planning a shopping outing before Christmas. If you are interested, contact the Daveys 689212 for more details. Destination at present unknown.

Tuesday Clubbers enjoyed a fish and chip lunch at the Fountain Inn in September followed by Bingo in Bert and Kathleen's lovely garden. The sun shone and the sky was blue and the plums were ripe and juicy. A good time was had by all.
We are all very pleased that Pat Robinson is now able to walk to Tuesday Club by herself - with an escort.
Member Marjorie Thomas is in hospital, we all send her our best wishes and hope to see her back with us soon.
We are all looking forward to our Christmas Lunch at the F.O.D. College near Coleford.
